The Pelvic floor muscles are a like a hammock located at the base of the pelvis attaching at the pubic bone to the tail bone.

These muscles support the bladder, bowel and female reproductive organs.  They are essential for bladder and bowel control, Childbirth and our sexual health and wellbeing.

Unfortunately for some of us, around 4.8 million female and male Australians are affected by incontinence, which may be caused from weak pelvic floor muscles, which contribute, to poor bladder and bowel control.

But…. Did you know that these conditions can easily be treated and managed and in many cases cured with the guidance of a Pelvic Health Physiotherapist?

A Pelvic Floor Physiotherapist is a tertiary educated Physiotherapist, whom has undergone postgraduate studies in the area of the Pelvic Floor.

A Pelvic Floor Physiotherapist provides a comprehensive pelvic floor assessment that assesses pelvic floor muscle strength, endurance, timing, symmetry and reactiveness- providing you with a personalised, individulaised pelvic Holloistic floor muscle training program, this may include:

  • Uptraining or strengthening of the pelvic floor muscles

  • Downtraining or relaxation and internal and external release of overactive muscles

  • The role of the spine, abdominals, diaphragm and posture on your pelvic floor muscle function

  • How your occupation, daily acitivities and exercise program impacts upon your pelvic floor

At Gold Coast Pelvic Health we use the latest evidence based technology including abdominal and transperineal ultrasound for the assessment of pelvic floor dysfunction, bowel and bladder problems, prolapse and biofeedback training.

At Gold Coast Pelvic Health we are highly-qulified in the clinical assessment and integrated therapeutic approach to modalities such as EMG for muscle strength and activation and using Electric stimulation for muscle endurance and awareness.

So you can be sure you will get the results you deserve and are in the best care for your pelvic floor problems.

It is our aim to enure you feel comfortable, supported, understood and respected in the treatment and management of pelvic floor conditions.

We look forward optimising your Pelvic Floor Health at your next appointment
